Digital safety
Reduce the information others can use against you.
No single tool makes a person completely safe. Small, consistent steps can reduce exposure.
Device
- Use a strong screen lock.
- Hide notification previews.
- Remove unused apps and accounts.
- Update the operating system.
Accounts
- Use unique passwords.
- Enable two-step verification.
- Review active sessions.
- Remove recovery methods others control.
Communication
- Use end-to-end encrypted services.
- Verify contacts through another channel.
- Avoid sending identity documents in chat.
- Delete sensitive media from shared devices.
Photo safety
Before sharing a photo, check faces, mirrors, windows, landmarks, documents, uniforms, number plates and screen reflections. Metadata can also contain date, device and location information.
Browser safety
Private browsing can reduce local history, but it does not hide activity from internet providers, workplace networks or monitoring software. Use the Quick Exit button when needed, while remembering it cannot erase every trace.
